Wertek AI for manufacturing

Market context

Manufacturing is Mexico's largest industrial sector, and nearshoring is pushing it even further: plants running 24/7, just-in-time schemes where a line stoppage compromises deliveries, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) as a metric management reviews every week. That pressure falls directly on maintenance — which in most mid-size plants is still reactive, with history in Excel and knowledge in the heads of technicians who rotate. Traditional condition monitoring (external analysts, quarterly routes, proprietary hardware) leaves out most of the motor, pump, and compressor fleet: only the "star" equipment is monitored, and the stoppage comes from the motor no one was watching. The sector's opportunity is to cover far more equipment, at a low entry cost, with interpretation embedded in the same workflow of the plant's own maintenance team.

Sector pain points

  • Unplanned line stoppages. A critical motor or pump that fails without warning stops the entire line, hits OEE, and compromises just-in-time deliveries.
  • Reactive maintenance with no history. Repairs go undocumented; every failure is diagnosed from scratch and replacement decisions are made without data.
  • Critical motors and drives without monitoring. Variable frequency drives are installed and forgotten until they trip, even though their fans and capacitors age on a known schedule.
  • Expensive compressed air. Leaks grow silently and system efficiency degrades month over month — paid-for energy escaping through the pipes.
  • Energy cost and regulatory risk. Low power factor, harmonics, and imbalances mean penalties — and for large loads, Grid Code obligations.
  • Uncontrolled critical spares. The bearing needed today turns out to be out of stock, and the stoppage drags on waiting for the supplier.

The Wertek solution

In manufacturing, Wertek AI's modules combine over the same digital identity of each asset:

  • Asset identity QR/NFC: registering the entire plant is free and unlimited; you manage (and pay for) only what matters. The history lives with the equipment, not with the technician on shift.
  • Diagnostics and condition monitoring: wireless vibration and temperature sensors on critical equipment with a health index and lifecycle alerts, plus on-demand diagnostics with the phone (vibration, ultrasound, thermography) for the rest of the fleet. The approach is multi-sensor per system: instrumenting the motor and the pump of the same train allows locating the problem by contrast — normal motor and high pump point to the pump, both rising together suggest misalignment — instead of knowing only that "something is wrong." Ultrasound also covers compressed-air leak surveys.
  • Drive Service Intelligence: multi-brand monitoring of variable frequency drives, with a digital nameplate, per-component service windows, and a one-click factory maintenance plan.
  • Energy and power quality: consumption per area, power factor, harmonics, and Grid Code compliance.
  • CMMS: automatic preventive maintenance, work orders with evidence, and spare-parts inventory with minimums and automatic purchase orders — the sensor alert ends in a work order with the verified spare part.

What Wertek does NOT do in this sector: Wertek is not an MES or an ERP — it does not schedule production or manage orders; it integrates into the maintenance and reliability workflow. And Wertek does not manufacture sensors: it integrates third-party hardware (wireless sensors, meters, gateways), which avoids being locked into proprietary hardware.

Typical assets and sensors

  • Motor–pump systems: the most common plant configuration — 2 vibration/temperature sensors (motor and pump) allow locating bearing faults, imbalance, cavitation, and misalignment.
  • Production-line motors: 1 sensor on the critical motors of each line (main, critical station, output/packaging).
  • Variable frequency drives (VFD): multi-brand digital integration (status, current, alarms) via Drive Service Intelligence.
  • Air compressors: vibration on motor and compression side, discharge temperature; ultrasound for detection and quantification of network leaks.
  • Fans, exhausters, and blowers: vibration and temperature.
  • Gearboxes and gear trains: an additional vibration point on motor–gearbox–pump trains to isolate the problem component.
  • Electrical switchgear and capacitor banks: energy metering, power quality, and dedicated capacitor bank monitoring.

Modalities: continuous vibration (wireless sensors with auto-discovery), on-demand vibration/ultrasound/thermography with the phone, multi-brand energy, and drive data via industrial protocol.

Compliance and standards

  • ISO vibration severity: the health index of continuous monitoring is based on the severity criteria of ISO 10816, the reference standard for vibration in rotating machinery.
  • ISO 13374 / ISO 17359: the platform's condition monitoring methodology (acquisition, processing, state assessment) follows the framework of these standards; the equipment taxonomy is aligned to ISO 14224.
  • Grid Code (Mexico): compliance monitoring with report for obligated load centers — power factor, imbalance, and harmonic distortion compared against the regulatory limits.
  • Customer and corporate audits: the history per asset (measurements, orders with evidence, preventive maintenance completed) answers headquarters or anchor-customer audits in minutes, not days.
  • ISO 55001 (asset management): certification-support module ROADMAP.

Reference case

A published example application from the industrial environment is the industrial equipment rental company: a fleet of around 100 multi-brand forklifts serving industrial customers, with NFC/QR digital identity per unit, mobile CMMS with photographic evidence, and portable history that survives site changes — presented as an anonymized solution design, not as achieved results. For production lines and plant equipment, contact Wertek for a demo with your own assets: the typical path is to register the critical assets on the free plan and diagnose the first problem machine. </content>
