The mobile experience: the Wertek AI app in the field
What the mobile app is for
The Wertek AI mobile app (iOS and Android) is the field tool: where the web analyzes and administers, the app captures and identifies. A technician standing in front of the equipment can scan its QR/NFC tag, view its history, record a signal, raise a photo observation, run an inspection route, or close a work order — with or without an internet signal. It uses the same accounts, organizations, and data as app.wertek.ai; everything captured in the field shows up on the web for analysis and vice versa. See web experience.
The app is designed for real plant conditions: 14 languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Italian, Polish, and Turkish) with RTL support for Arabic, and a high-contrast mode intended for using the screen under direct sunlight outdoors.
Identify and adopt assets: QR, NFC, and tagging
Scanning is the gateway to digital identity — see asset identity:
- QR scanning and NFC reading to identify any tagged asset: the scan opens its record with history, measurements, and work orders.
- Guided registration: if the code does not match any asset, the app lets you create it right there with a photo and basic data (it is born as an orphan, free).
- Adoption (claim): the owning organization claims the asset with ownership verification; if the asset already has an owner, there is a dispute flow.
- Tagging tools: writing and verifying NFC tags, a tag generator, "Quick Tag" (create asset + write NFC in one step), and batch tagging for integrators with preloaded codes.
- Sensor binding: after adopting an asset, its telemetry source can be associated from the same app.
Diagnostics capture: vibration, ultrasound, and leaks
The app guides signal capture with the phone and with external instruments, with an honest distinction between screening (quick screening with the phone) and measurement (instrument data analyzed by the platform):
- Guided vibration/acoustic capture: a step-by-step flow (signal type → application → asset → live capture → result). The phone records audio and delivers an instant screening (good / warning / fault) even offline. Important: the phone microphone is an acoustic screening tool, not a certified accelerometer — quantitative diagnostics (spectra, bearing fault frequencies, prescriptive report) are done on instrument signals or imported files, processed by the platform. See diagnostics and monitoring.
- Ultrasound: detectors for steam traps and partial discharge over the captured audio, and support for external ultrasonic instruments (which convert the ultrasonic band to audible) connected to the phone. Includes an instrument catalog and two-point calibration.
- Compressed-air leaks: a leak-intensity meter with flow estimation (CFM), annual cost in USD, and CO₂ equivalent, plus a 5-step leak survey flow with a mandatory photo and tagging of each leak. The results feed the cost-prioritized leak list.
- Bearing catalog to associate the asset's bearing and calculate its fault frequencies.
Video: Motion and structural health
The app captures video for the platform's two motion analyses — see motion and structural:
- VibeDiag (video-based vibration visualization): the running equipment is recorded with the phone on a tripod or firmly supported (30–240 fps depending on the phone, with framing guidance); the result is a movement map on the video, the dominant frequencies and their RPM, and orbits in up to 12 regions. The app shows processing progress and notifies when the result is ready. It is a visual screening analysis, not a certified measurement.
- Structural health: video capture of structures (bases, supports, racks, buildings) for modal analysis — natural frequencies and comparison against a baseline to detect stiffness changes.
- 3D LiDAR scanning
ROADMAPas complementary capture for assets and structures — under development, not available yet.
Maintenance in the field: work orders and routes
The full CMMS travels in your pocket — see CMMS and FSM:
- Work orders: a list with filters (pending, in progress, overdue, today), detail with checklist, log of work performed, spare parts and photos, work order creation from the asset or from a finding, and on-site closure.
- Inspection/CBM routes: creation and execution of point-to-point routes (the technician moves asset by asset logging readings and findings), with an execution history.
- Maintenance: a preventive maintenance calendar, quick work logging (Quick Log), spare-parts inventory, metrics, and the asset's technical documents (built-in PDF and image viewer).
- Meter readings associated with the asset, and energy, drive (VFD), and compressor modules to check the status and alerts of that equipment from the field.
- Unified alert center and notification inbox, with push notifications (for example, "your VibeDiag analysis is ready" or a critical asset alert).
Observations: field evidence with photos
Observations are the universal way to raise evidence in the field: a finding, risk, maintenance note, safety, quality, or energy item — with photo(s), title, description, severity, plant/area, and an optional asset. They can be dictated using the phone keyboard's dictation (the app does not record or upload audio). An observation can later be converted into a work order from the web or the app, preserving the evidence. It is the recommended mechanism for capturing "what you saw" without bureaucracy: two taps, a photo, done.
Provider mode: field technicians and tracking
For service-provider organizations, the app adds the field service (FSM) flow:
- Field service home with the technician's visits and jobs for the day.
- Personal schedule ("My Schedule") and the technician's own statistics.
- On-site check-in/check-out and a visit report with device-verified findings, ready to share with the client.
- GPS tracking: a live map of the technician team and reconstruction of routes per trip (individual GPS is opt-in and medium-precision — it serves to know "which site they are at," not for fine surveillance).
- Portfolio of serviced assets and client meter readings.
The provider sees on the web (Provider Dashboard) what its technicians execute from the app. See customer types for the provider business model.
No signal: offline-first and synchronization
The app assumes there is not always a network in the plant:
- Captures (signals, photos, videos, observations, route progress) are saved locally and queued to upload when connectivity returns, with automatic retries.
- On-device screening (the lightweight good/warning/fault models) works completely offline; the file is uploaded afterward for the platform's authoritative analysis.
- Background synchronization respects battery conditions and network type, and a home widget shows the status and pending uploads.
Account, privacy, and settings
From the app you manage the account (subscription, settings, instrument calibration), the notification preferences (including quiet hours), and the language. Privacy principles applied by design: GPS is off by default (opt-in), the app does not record or upload voice audio, and the app does not charge in-app — subscriptions are contracted on the web.
