How the Wertek AI mobile app works

How it works (concept)

The Wertek AI mobile app (iOS and Android) is the field tool: where the web analyzes and administers, the app captures and identifies. A technician standing in front of the equipment scans its QR/NFC tag, sees its history, records a signal, logs an observation with a photo, runs their inspection route or closes a work order — with or without an internet signal. It uses the same account, organization and data as app.wertek.ai: everything captured in the field appears on the web and vice versa. The full picture of mobile capabilities is in the mobile experience; this guide teaches you how to use it.

Installation: publishing the app in the App Store and Google Play is in progress. While that is being completed, the current installation channel is coordinated with the Wertek team — write to [email protected] or your commercial contact to receive the installation link for your platform. The app does not charge inside the app: subscriptions are contracted from the web.

The app is designed for real plant conditions: 14 languages (with right-to-left writing support for Arabic) and a High Contrast mode to read the screen in direct sunlight. Both are changed from the app settings.

First 15 minutes

  1. Sign in with the same account you use on app.wertek.ai (email/password). If you don't have an account yet, you can create it from the app or from the web — see getting started.
  2. Enable biometric access (Face ID / Touch ID / fingerprint) from the app: on subsequent logins, the app authenticates you automatically when you open the login screen, without typing a password.
  3. Do your first scan: from the home screen, use Scan QR (camera) or the NFC reader (bring the phone close to the tag). The asset record opens with its history; if the code is not linked, the app offers Register New Asset with a photo and basic data, and if the asset is Available, you can claim it — see asset identity.
  4. Log your first observation: from the asset record, add an observation with a photo, title, description and severity. It is the fastest way to leave field evidence ("two taps, photo, done"); you can dictate it using your phone's keyboard dictation (the app does not record or upload audio).

Typical step-by-step flow

A typical day for a technician with the app:

  1. Review what's pending: the work order list with filters (pending, in progress, overdue, due today) and the alerts/notifications center.
  2. In front of the equipment, scan its QR/NFC to open the correct record — no searching through lists and no risk of capturing on the wrong asset.
  3. Capture what the job requires:
    • Vibration/acoustic signal: guided flow — signal type → application → asset → live capture → result. The phone delivers an instant screening (good / warning / fault) even without a connection; the authoritative quantitative analysis is done by the platform on the uploaded signal or on instrument files.
    • Photos and observations linked to the asset.
    • Video for VibeDiag (visual vibration diagnostics): the app shows progress and notifies you when the result is ready.
    • Compressed-air leaks: an intensity meter with estimated annual cost and a step-by-step leak survey with a mandatory photo.
  4. Execute and close: advance your inspection route point by point, record the work done on the order (checklist, spare parts, photos) and close it on site.
  5. Consult documents in the field: under Maintenance → Documents are the asset's manuals and certificates, with a built-in PDF viewer (pinch to zoom, go to page, share). Recently viewed documents are cached for offline consultation; the first time you open a document it does require internet.

No signal (offline): captures (signals, photos, videos, observations, route progress) are saved locally — you'll see messages like "Saved locally — will sync" — and upload on their own when the connection returns, with automatic retries. You can force the upload with Sync Now, enable Background Sync and download routes for offline use (Download for Offline). A home-screen widget shows pending uploads.

Common errors and solutions

  • "QR scanning isn't working" — check the app's camera permission, clean the code surface and try in more light. As a fallback, enter the code manually.
  • "The NFC won't read" — confirm that the phone's NFC is turned on and bring the phone slowly toward the tag (the antenna position varies by model). On metal surfaces, on-metal tags are required; if the tag fails, use the QR code.
  • "My photos/captures didn't upload" — it is almost always connectivity: check the pending-sync indicator and use Sync Now when the signal returns. Captures are not lost: they stay saved locally in the queue.
  • "What I see in the app doesn't match the web" — it is usually pending sync on one of the two sides. Pull down to refresh the list in the app, verify there are no items pending upload and refresh the web page.
  • "I can't sign in" — check your email and password (it is the same account as the web) and use "forgot my password" if needed. If your company uses corporate access, check with your administrator.
  • "The app closes on its own" — update to the latest available version and clear the app cache. If it persists, report it to [email protected], indicating the phone model and which screen you were using.

What's next

  • Turn evidence into action: a field observation can become a work order while keeping photos and context → CMMS
  • Tag and adopt more equipment with Quick Tag and the claim flow → asset identity
  • Understand your capture results (screening vs measurement, diagnostics) → diagnostics
  • See the app's full scope (energy, VFD, compressor modules, provider mode with GPS) → the mobile experience
