How the Wertek AI Copilot works

How it works (concept)

The Wertek AI Copilot is the conversational assistant built into the web platform: a chat that answers questions about your assets, measurements, documents and maintenance with your organization's context — not generic internet answers. To answer, it combines three sources from your own account: your documents (manuals, certificates), the relationships between assets (hierarchy and dependencies) and real-time events (incidents, alerts). Each answer indicates which sources it came from.

What it is NOT: the Copilot does not carry out destructive actions on its own (the only action it can perform today is create a work order, and it always asks for your confirmation before creating it), it does not see other organizations' data — each organization is isolated — and it does not replace the engineer's judgment: the interface itself warns that "AI may make mistakes. Verify critical recommendations." It is also not a channel for promising features: if you ask about something the platform doesn't do, the Copilot's correct answer is to say so, not to invent it. The full intelligence layer (Event Intelligence, operational health, prioritized alerts) is described in intelligence and AI.

First 15 minutes

  1. Open it: in app.wertek.ai, side menu, Intelligence group → Wertek AI Copilot. It requires the Monitoring plan or higher; on lower plans the item appears locked with an invitation to upgrade. Today the Copilot chat is a web platform experience (from the phone you can view alerts, incidents and operational health, but the conversational chat lives on the web).
  2. Start a conversation ("New Conversation") or use one of the starter templates: General Question, Asset Health Report, Incident Summary, Maintenance Planning or Impact Analysis.
  3. Try 3-5 questions about your operation, for example:
    • "How is pump CHWP-1 doing?" (status summary, events and latest measurements for the asset)
    • "Summarize the plant's open incidents"
    • "What does the compressor manual say about oil changes?" (if the manual is loaded as a document on the asset)
    • "Which assets depend on the main transformer?"
    • "Create a work order to inspect the exhaust fan motor" (it will show you the draft and ask for confirmation)

Typical step-by-step flow

Usage patterns that work well, in order of value:

  1. Ask about a specific asset: name it as it is registered in the platform (tag or name). The better fed the asset is — linked sensors, loaded documents, history — the more useful the answer. A freshly created asset with no data produces empty answers.
  2. Ask for interpretation: "what does this alert mean?", "is this vibration level concerning?". The Copilot puts it in context with your history and the asset's events; for formal diagnoses use the diagnostics module and treat the chat's answer as guidance, not a verdict.
  3. Summarize to decide: plant status, incidents of the week, what maintenance is coming up. Useful before an operations meeting.
  4. Turn conversation into action: when the Copilot detects that work is needed, it proposes creating the order — review the title, priority, type and asset in the confirmation card and press Confirm (or Cancel).
  5. Watch your AI credits: each plan includes AI credits per month — Free: 0, Technical: 20, Monitoring: 100, Prescriptive: 500, Enterprise: custom — that are consumed across the platform's AI features. Your current usage is checked in Settings → Subscription. Details in plans and pricing.

Common errors and solutions

  • "The Copilot says it has no data" — the asset you're asking about has no recorded measurements, documents or events. Link its sensor, upload its manuals as documents on the asset or record observations; the Copilot can only answer with what your organization has fed it.
  • "I don't see the Copilot in the menu / it appears locked" — the chat requires the Monitoring plan or higher. On Free and Technical the item is shown locked; it is enabled by upgrading your plan in Settings → Subscription.
  • "I ran out of AI credits" — check the month's usage in Settings → Subscription. Credits renew each month with the plan cycle; if you consistently run short, consider the next plan.
  • "I asked it to configure something and it didn't" — that is the expected behavior: the Copilot answers questions and (with confirmation) creates work orders; it does not change settings, delete data or perform actions on equipment. Those operations are done in the platform's corresponding screens.
  • "It can't find an asset that does exist" — use the exact name or tag it is registered under (check it on the Assets page). Repeated generic names ("pump 1" in three areas) confuse anyone, including the Copilot; see naming best practices in asset identity.
  • "The answer seems wrong to me" — verify it against the cited source (document, measurement, event). For critical operational or safety recommendations, always validate with your technical team; if the error persists, report it to support.

What's next

  • When the Copilot doesn't resolve it: escalate to human support through the official channels ([email protected] or the platform chat) — see the support section of general FAQ.
  • Feed the Copilot better: more sensors and measurements → diagnostics; complete documents and hierarchy → asset identity.
  • From chat to operation: orders created from the Copilot are managed the same as any other → CMMS.
